Trying to cancel my Telkom Mobile Contract for months
My tablet contract with Telkom had come to an end in February, and I went in-store, to make a cancellation because as I remember from previous experiences, cancellations are made in store. At the store I was told that they don't handle cancellations any more. Okay, fair, even though this was not communicated to me like it ought to have been, I gave Telkom the benefit of the doubt. I was told to email the cancellations department and expect the cancellation to be processed in 30 working days, so I followed through with the instruction.
After 30 working days had passed, I tried sending a follow up email to that email address but found that my email had bounced. I then went a step further and I called the call centre only to find out that the process of emailing your cancellation form to the cancellation department is no longer in place and I would need to cancel my contract on the portal.
Now, in these past three months, I've received numerous calls from the upgrades department, who were continuously offering me contract upgrades. In fact, last Friday I received 3 consecutive calls with that regard. When I mentioned to the agents that all I wanted to do was cancel my contract, all I was told was sorry.
What’s ironic is that Telkom is quite quick to send out upgrade notifications and new deal notifications but what about the cancellations process change notifications? Why does a simple cancellation have to be such a run around? It really DOES NOT make sense that customers should suffer each time a process changes because it’s really unfair that I should be paying for this contract.
Extremely dissatisfied customer
