Transferred ADSL service to another line but still charged a penalty cancellation & still paying for the service on the other line

Acc: ********** 80001

We app**** to transfer our ADSL line to another existing line - so we never cancelled / terminated the service - we simply transferred the service and continue paying for the service every month. So there is NO loss of income to Telkom due to a a cancelled / terminated contract.

On our latest bill we have now been charged a "Contract Forfeiture" fee of R932.84 + VAT.

So we continue paying our monthly ADSL service PLUS we get charged a "Contract Forfeiture" fee therefore Telkom is **********ly scoring TWICE on this same contract as nothing has been cancelled if we are still receiving the same service from the said contract & still being billed and still paying.

We confirmed with the Telkom representative when we ordered the TRANSFER in writing that there would be no charge because the service is still running with exactly the same login details etc.

Telkom thinks they can get away with **********ly earning twice on the same contract earning undue income. Either the "Contract Forfeiture" fee is payable OR the continued ADSL service fee is payable on 1 contract but not both. We chose to continue paying for the service but move it to another line which is allowed as the service has not been cancelled / discontinued else we would not be paying for it monthly.

Gary Haslecker

Eiger Engineering

Why have I not received any further action on this problem - it is now 3 weeks later???

I am still paying for the service AND I have been charged a Contract Forfeiture fee which is totally ******* and ********** that Telkom is earning double from this contract.

I want this ***** problem escalated to your legal department because this is unacceptable that I am being charged twice for the same service.

This is unacceptable that I am waiting 3 weeks and the problem still has not been sorted out.

My next step is taking this to my attorney and Telkom will pay all the costs plus damages plus refund me money charged **********ly.

Best you get this sorted out VERY QUICKLY before you have attorney costs and damages to pay too.

I will be lodging a formal complaint with the Telecoms Ombudsman (ICASA) today with regard to these ********** charges against my account and nobody from Telkom is doing anything about this in over 3 weeks.

The ICASA complaints procedure is that I must first escalate the problem to the highest management within Telkom.

I am now demanding that this problem be ascalated to the Telkom customer care manager. I demand proof (name, email address and reference number) that this has been escalated. Should I not receive this info, I will then procede without it and inform ICASA that I have been blocked in escalating this problem to the highest level.
