Throttle ADSL Speeds | Anti-customer Practices | ******* in general
ISSUE NUMER 1: Throttled ADSL Speeds On their ADSL service, they aim to provide a "best effort service". Yet my download speed gets much slower than when I started the service. Very inconsistent speeds. And only I use the service - with a network cable and wifi disabled?
I'm relatively certain that Telkom throttles customers to try and convince them to move over to fibre. Whenever I'm having connection issues, I call in technical service, ask them to do a port recreate and all of a sudden, everything is up to speed again. How can this be? Telkom clearly throttles customers. (PS I'm well aware of the Acceptable Use Policy, and well within the limits according to their own customer portal). Acceptable speeds when you start the service, that deteriorate over time.
-------------------- ISSUE NUMBER 2: Temporary Suspension They no longer offer temporary suspension of service on a MONTH-TO-MONTH CONTRACT! As a student, who doesn't use my adsl service at my Uni apartment for 4-5 months a year, this is plain thievery.
--------------------- ISSUE NUMBER 3: Bill Payments When signing up for my ADSL service, I signed a debit order form. Telkom clearly never registered this. After 2 months I got an SMS detailing that my account was suspended until I paid my bill. Which is ridiculous - because I was certain that I had a debit order in place and my account was NEVER DEBITED. My issue is that Telkom DOESN'T NOTIFY YOU OF PAYMENT ISSUES. Nor do they notify you prior to suspending your service. They'll send you an SMS just AFTER SUSPENSION. But not before.
The reason for this is simple: Telkom has an unreasonable reconnection fee policy in place. If they don't notify you of Billing issues (and conveniently don't register the debit order form you so kindly provided and signed), they profit from an extra reconnection fee. *******.
------------------------------- Anti-customer company, solely focused on milking the few remaining customers it has. Look at their latest annual financials for more proof.
