This is what passes for service

Our landline has not been working for more than 10 days. We reported the fault to Telkom on 27th November and were allocated a reference number. We received a text message from Telkom advising that they were aware of the problem and that they would endeavour to repair the fault within 3 days. Needless to say , as at today ( 5th December ) , the fault has not been repaired. Despite calling everyday , we are merely fobbed off with excuses - the fault has not been established yet ; the fault is with the underground cable ; the fault is in the exchange and each time we are told that a technician will be appointed to attend to the fault , but this never happens. We have spoken to two different team leaders and the complaint has been escalated ( whatever that is supposed to mean ) and both these team leaders assure that they will call back with progress reports but this just does not happen. When one calls back , one can never speak to the same person and so one has to go through the whole process from the beginning, every time. They say that one can apply to have all calls forwarded to a mobile number , but then one has to pay for this facility , even if , by their own admission ,they are at fault. Thankfully , there is still MTN.
