This company is a disaster.

In April 2017 , my husband and I went in to Telkom to upgrade our package. After spending a lenghty period there, we were told that the sytem was down but we would receive an order number by sms. Nothing transpired.

In May, a marketer on behalf of Telkom phoned me and offered me a package. Again, I accepted but heard nothing. After a while, I phoned in and was told that the system had cancelled our order because of a problem with our address ( Had we moved recently?) and I needed to go in to the Telkom office with an ID and proof of address. I went in to the Telkom office in Menlyn in Pretoria on May 30 at 16.17 and was told by Karabo, the lady serving, that she could see no problem on the system with the address. This took twenty minutes of queueing and Karabo spending one and a half hours processing on the computer, which finally gave me an order number! Over the next two weeks, I received sms's telling my order was being processed but nothing happened. I even received a phone call on Thursday 15 June saying that the order was being processed. Nothing happened. I phoned today, at 9.15 onTuesday 20 June - to be told that there was a problem on the system and our order was cancelled. Nomphumelelo said not to worry she would now process the order correctly. After a long wait, she found that the system just kept rejecting the order and she must upscale it to the technicians.

My biggest issue is this: How can you just cancel someone's order twice without bothering to contact the client? . . . and after you have paid some marketing company to ring them three times to sell them something. My second issue is this: Why are there long queues all the time in the Telkom offices? Why do the staff seem to spend on average over and hour with each client? I can only assume that Telkom is not employing enough staff and is not training them adequately and causing its clients to waste huge amounts of time. The installation of our fibre line was also a model of time wasting and inefficiency - but that is another story. Really, Telkom management - you need to take a long, hard look at your company.
