They won't let me cancel an unusable service

If I could give this company less than one star I would. I initially requested a cancellation of the contract as they couldn't fix their lte issues. So because it is in the beginning of a renewed contract the only option they gave me was to downgrade. The lady told me that with the downgrade I am able to cancel it after 6 months. 6 months later not only am I paying for a service I do not use but now they threaten me with a cancellation fee which I feel is not acceptable due to the consumer act as I am supposed to be on a month to month contract. I will never ever use such a disgusting useless terrible ********** service again.
