The usual culprit - Telkom

Again, I am appalled by the service of Telkom. On 7 July I requested to upgrade from soft cap to unlimited data on my current fibre line. I have been struggling since then to get the service activated. Tuesday afternoon I spent 55 minutes on the phone with the sales department to sort it out. I had to restart my router and was assured that the service will then be activated. This was done. I should have known that this would not have been the case. I ran out of pre-paid top up data and the unlimited was not activated. When asking the technical department as to what is the problem, they tell me it is sales. When eventually getting through to sales they indicate that it is technical, and transferred me. Only for technical to again tell me it is sales. In the meantime I am being billed for unlimited since 7 July without the service (I received an sms confirming that I am being billed for unlimited and my invoice received on Thursday also shows that I am being billed for the soft cap and uncapped at the same time). Since 7 July I have been following up almost daily on this matter. On 13 July, I was told to phone back in 1 hour as the systems were down. When I phoned back after 2 hours, I was again told that the systems are down and that I must phone Saturday. When I phoned just after 08:00, the consultant indicated that she can see that a technical issue was lodged, but she has escalated it again now for the technical guys to attend to. When I requested to speak to a supervisor, I was informed that no supervisor is on duty. ***?? I could also not speak to someone that will be able to assist with the technical issue, as they are only back on Monday. I indicated that I refuse to accept that answer and that I wish to speak to someone that will be available to resolve the issue today. I have been patient enough and the matter was raised each day for a full work week. I was placed on hold, only to be told that she is trying to find someone to assist. Was placed on hold again and after 27 minutes, the call was dropped. I cannot believe that there are so many complaints on social media for so many years now, but it does not seem to phase Telkom at all. It seems that they think that their competitive prices is supposed to sustain them and because of this, their sub-standard service is not an issue. I would not recommend Telkom to any family or friends - the question that they always ask when you need to rate their service. If I was able to find the cell number of the CEO on Sunday morning, I would have waked him with a phone call and asked whether he finds this level of service acceptable.
