The Telkom Pandemic...
We had taken a new contract in June where we were given a D-link rooter. We then had problems with our telephone line, there was a horrid loud noise and an echo on both sides of the line. When we took the rooter back they simply told us there was no problem, but gave us a new D-link rooter. We continued to have the same problems with our telephone line for the next two months.
Thereafter telkom sent out a technician we told us that there was a problem with the D-link rooter and that he had put in a request for us to receive a Huawei rooter. When my dad took the D-link rooter back to telkom today they claimed that there was no request made, and that we would have to test the rooter first for 21 days! This would have not worked as I am a final year student and I am dependant on the internet as I am studying from home. Eventually the workers at telkom told my dad that he would have to pay R2000 for the new rooter because they "couldn't just switch" the rooters. So on top of it not being our fault that the rooters were faulty, we still have to pay an extra R2000 for a new rooter.
The whole issue was very confusing as the technician told us that the rooter just needed to be swapped, and at telkom we were told that a technician cannot make a decision like that... We were even given an Incident number: ***, but when it was given to telkom they claimed it has nothing to do with them! We are extremely unhappy with the services of telkom, would not recommend getting a rooter from them!
The account holder was my dad: Mr S Hansraj.
