The Opposition of Customer Service

Two months ago I took out a contract with Telkom (Mall of Africa) for a J5 Prime. I chose Telkom, because I also use my cell for work, and it was said to be good with landline rates. Three days later, the phone started having issues in reading my sim, and when taking it back, I was informed that the fault was with the sim and not the phone. This happened again within the same week, (within the 7 day exchange period) and I was informed the same. The next week, on the ninth day, I took the phone back to them for the same issue again, and then, and only then were they able to find out that the issue was with the phone, but I was informed that we were now unfortunately out of the 7-day exchange period, otherwise they would have given me a new phone (quite bizzare). They then took the phone in for repairs, and weeks later I then received a call telling me that I would need to pay for the repairs and not only that, but also for the assessment of the handset. Upon my refusal, I was informed that the handset will then not be returned or repaired. I am now being informed that there is physical damage to the handset, and that is the reason why I was being informed that I would need to pay. So in essence other than the handset not being able to read a sim card, which is a malfunction, there is also now physical damage on the handset, which I have no record of. these people are ********** with their service, because it is only this week that I have been informed of such. more than 8 weeks later.
