The only way of getting out of a Telkom contract is dying

After being fairly happy with the fixed line service we received from Telkom for 3 year I wanted to cancel our contract as I was in the process of moving to the UK where I currently live.

I completed the cancellation document, attached all the necessary support and sent it to the mailbox only to receive a message notifying me that they will only call me to confirm / verify the cancellation in 21 days.

I notified them that I would already be out of the country by that time and it would not be suitable for me. I spoke to the call centre on 3 occations (to 3 different people) that were unable to escalate this matter and assured me that even if they cannot reach me for the call (THAT THEY COULD NOT DO BEFORE 21 DAYS) they would still generate a final invoice the following month stating a final amount to be settled and close my account. (Account closing date should have been 10 February 2017)

Telkom have however continued to charge me and sent me an account statement up to the 2nd of March 2017.

Am I now expected to make an international call (and wait for 30min on your call centre) to query this with a person who does not have the authority to correct this matter??

I cannot go through the 'automated response' cancelation mailbox with this matter as I will end up having the same issue.

Is there a HUMAN PERSON at telkom who I can speak to that will look at my forms and has the authority just cancel my contract please!
