Telkom's service is shocking to say the least
In November 2017 we app**** for a change of ownership on a telkom line. This process can apparently only done at a telkom store, which we did. All relevant documents were filled out and all supporting documentation were supp****.
3 months later, and an unending number of phone calls later, still nothing had happened.
So on the 18th of January 2018, I again visited a telkom store and re-did the same process.
2 weeks later the change of ownership was done and completed. The problem now is that somehow the new line has been registered on my name as "business line" and not as a residential line.
Again after spending 3 days on the phone to the call centres, and after been told by each department to contact the next and being told by the next to contact the previous I was told to "POP" into the nearest telkom branch to rectify same.
What telkom and their employees don't realise is that the nearest telkom branch is not just 3 mins away from everyone in the Republic and that some people, like myself, have to drive 400km's every time we need to "pop" into the nearest telkom store.
The contrary is also true that popping into the nearest telkom branch is also fruitless as you are either told to call the call centre to sort the problem or the assistance they give you is never completed and the issue never rectified.
One can understand my frustration, as in my opinion we are being held at ransom by telkom as being the multinational they are, and as being just "another" government department who is *********** of doing their job.
SO, what to do.... In my opinion, if any given company's service is unsatisfactory, then simple cancel the account and find a better solution. And this is where the problem lies, after numerous attempts to obtain the documentation to cancel the account has been unsuccessful, one is stranded by paying an account and not having the service one requires. The second problem is that cancelling the account is said to take 30 days, and on reading other complaints on the site, cancelling a telkom account can take much longer if ever achieved.... and then of course still paying for a service which is not what you have requested.
And then fining a better solution.... well there isn't a better solution (not in our area), as telkom seems to have the monopoly when it comes to fixed line rentals, and there, shocking service just doesn't play a role when it come to customer satisfaction.
CONFUSED and IRRITATED and don't know what to do next
