Telkom's poor service delivery
In Moorreesburg, Western Cape, we had a telephone line & ADSL system - perfect service as we had a dedicated technician based in Moorreesburg. When we relocated KZN at the beginning of 2016, I cancelled it. Now it seems it has miraculously "become a major issue again - outstanding account). We went for a similar system in KZN - a bit more erratic due to climatic conditions and where the house was situated. Notwithstanding this, we made use of it until 7 April 2023 when an electrical storm made it non-operational. I reported this to Telkom and was told that it would be repaired within a max of 5 weeks. Telkom knew they were discontinuing it. I was invoiced - apparently up to the end of April 2024 for a service not provided to me. More than 40 phone calls later, it's still an issue - large amount owed to me. Feedback received from Telkom was that I had to keep it "active (although the system did not work!) in order to retain my e-mail address. This has proven to be false! Telkom has been enriched as they have NOT provided an operational ADSL; SYSTEM FOR LONGER THAN A YEAR, whilst deducting monthly amounts for it. Further - 2 incorrect e-mail addresses (coupled to the Fibre System which we tried to get - May 2023. Although I was invoiced for the latter (it appears until May 2024! Again further enrichment by Telkom - also unfair! Lots of promises from Telkom, e.g. "we will phone back" (they hardly ever did! The Fiber System (in conjunction with Frogfoot) is fine to the 2 small boxes in the house (additional costs to get it from outside (pavement) to the house and get everything aligned - approx. R2 000.00. Frogfoot vouches that there has been NO ACTIVITY on the fiber line as it does not work from the s small boxes inside the house to the router! I was once again invoiced from May 2023 to May 2024! Promises made were never kept - hardly any returned phone calls, no technician (although promised and with me waiting at home for days on end), a general feeling (other than Akshar working in the Telkom Store, Shelly Centre who tried until he also got demoralized!) of "no caring" or "we don't know what is wrong" or "why doesn't it work?" It was as if I was running into the proverbial brick wall. The router was taken to the Oribi Telkom Store - to be collected by Telkom - I eventually fetched it as I was scared it would vanish! Telkom's service is pathetic to my mind!!!! They owe me probably in excess of R21 000.00 at this stage!!!!! They are trying to bully me and threatening me with legal steps as I now want to know why I should keep on paying for services NOT RENDERED!!!!! One account suddenly came to the fore of late - it seems it's the old Moorreesburg one......... I've had endless stories and "misrepresentation" from Telkom over a 15 month period. What makes it even worse, is the incorrect e-mail addresses given and problems - weeks on end re servers (where Telkom also gave incorrect info!). I'm approaching you as I cannot get someone in Telkom HO to help me!!! Since last year we've been on a LTE System (very costly!!) - so I have to pay for a working and 2 non-working systems. This appears to be bordering on a circus. Many hours on the phone - to no avail!!! Many km driven to the 2 local stores - to no avail!!!!! I now demand the money Telkom took whilst they were aware that the systems were non-operational. At present I only use the e-mail address (R16/month) and my son's internet (R106/month) - not the hundreds or thousands Telkom alleges!!!! Therefore, I'm not interested in having the R21 000.00+ credited to my account - I want it paid back!!!! Please help me!!!!!!!!!
