TELKOM'S not only refusing to refund my deposit, but classifying it as "unclaimed" really upsets me
18 years ago, I had to pay R700 deposit for my Telkom line because I was in SA on a temporary work permit. In 2017 I cancelled my Telkom line because I moved to fibre by a different provider. I tried endlessly to get my deposit refunded without any luck - I emailed, called, visited their walk-in centre, but just got nowhere. To add insult to injury, I now, out of the blue, received an email that my deposit was classified as "unclaimed refund" of R423.03. So not only did R277 disappear, the audacity to label it as "unclaimed" really bothers me, as I DID CLAIM IT BUT I JUST HIT BRICK WALLS, WHICH IS WHY I HAD TO ABANDON THIS BECAUSE I CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND ENDLESS WEEKS TRYING TO PLEA TO GET MY DEPOSIT BACK. I know everyone reading this knows it is not worth the effort of typing this, because everyone knows Telkom is about to go into the history books as the one parastatal that had its place in the 20th century and couldn't keep up, but then just don't send emails that open old wounds.
