Telkom's New Client Strategy - Give Them What They Didn't Order and No Recourse to Correct
Telkom seems to have some shady business practices lately: I phoned 10213 and ordered from Sibusiso a product - School In A Box Classic Package - on the 26th Oct. I was informed that before they would process the order they'd put through a debit order on my account. This they did on 30th October. I received only a tablet (eventually) on 9th November, and NOT the School in A Box Classic Package which I need and had ordered for my child. I immediately phoned 10213 back to report the problem, spoke to Xolani who said he'd initiate an investigation and that Telkom would get in touch. They didn't. On the 13th November, I called and spoke with Jabulo who said he was emailing Consumer Home Delivery - I asked for an email address so that I could follow up. I was told he wasn't allowed to do this, as it's an "internal thing". Still nothing, no call, no email, no Twitter response. Eventually on 19th Nov, I went into a Telkom shop and pleaded with them to take the ****** tablet back with the SIM card which was issued. I was told they can't do this. It has to be corrected by the call centre 10213. I was also told that the debit order of R219.00 which Sibusiso said Telkom has to put through before my order would be processed, isn't showing on Telkom's side. So it seems as though there is an issue of ***** now too that needs to be investigated. I once upon a time was quite impressed with Telkom Mobile service, now I will say that it is non-existent, poor, and frankly seems to be modelled on a rip-off strategy. Keep customers by making it IMPOSSIBLE for them to reach anyone who can rectify mistakes. All I want to do is CANCEL THIS ABSURD ORDER THAT I DIDN'T REQUEST!!! And Telkom come and collect this ****** item that I didn't order. I've just checked on my account, I have two mobile phones, and a data contract with them. I now have another number that was activated for the tablet despite me contacting them immediately to inform them that this wasn't what I ordered If there's anything that I can say about Telkom it's this: don't, don't, don't, order ANYTHING from them over the phone or online. There is NO RECOURSE when things go wrong.
