Telkom's Integrated SIM Myth

Around midday on 7 Sept I went into your local office in George (Garden Route Mall) and was told that, as an ADSL customer, they would provide me with a SIM card which would allow me 1GB per month data for my laptop (which I seldom use). They promised to activate it that afternoon.

I received the card and the following day tried to use it - no connection. Spent hours on the phone waiting and eventually speaking to various consultants and got conflicting information. Went back to the branch and spent hours there while they tried to get a connection which was partially successfully ie it seemed to upload but not download.

Thembeka promised to get Telkom technicians to come up with a solution but so far nothing.

How can Telkom offer a service and not implement?

Hello Launa, It is now more than two months since the problem started and is yet to be solved. On 18 October, Mr D'Angelo Fredericks of your Garden Route Mall office kindly offered to take over but like Thembeka, he does not seem to be making any progress. On 20 Oct he wrote "I have tried to configure the integrated sim card again for you , but still it does not connect. I have escalated it for you and I am hoping we can have it resolved for you as soon as possible. I do apologize for the inconvenience." There has been no progress since then. Is Telkom now prepared to admit that the so-called "integrated SIM card" does not work or is it ready for an entry in the Guinness Book of Records for the longest time taken to resolve a small technical problem?
