TELKOM'S INCOMPETENCE IS SCARY

My son took a contract out in the 3rd week of November and the consultant said that he will not be billed but he will be billed at the end of December.

End of December came and went no notification was received and he assumed that the debit order went off. But then in the 3rd week of January 2024 an amount of R747 was deducted from his FNB account by a third party - (telkom handed the account over to collection agency without ANY ANY ANY communications.

We then contacted Telkom to try and find out what the problem is - it turned out that no cell phn nr and email is noted on the system so he never received any notifications. And because the debit order returned since he spent the money because he thought that it was debited already.

He eventually sorted the account out with the help of a manager by the name of Lizeka Ntabeni and she assured him his cell nr and email is now recorded - payments are up to date and that the next payment of R450 will only be due end of February 2024. And he several times, is that all i will have to pay - several times - to be sure and each time she confirmed - ONLY R450 at end of February.

Now come end of month (05/03/2024) and he receives a bill of R1413.00. So he called Telkom again, in total shock, on Wednesday 6 March 2024 - the consultant Nobuhle Nondobula listened attentively and said that they will have to get the voice recordings to confirm that what the manager said.

He also asked" is Telkom going to phone him or must he call" and she said no they will phone him. Its Friday 08/03/2024 and no one has called yet so we called them and we were informed that there is no case logged for this account.

And the consultant that we dealt with cannot help - he can only comment on what he sees on the system - and no, absolutely no notes were made on his account so the consultant is not willing to entertain him,

And when he asked to speak to a manager he was told that he must get through him (the consultant) first. Granted many angry words were said, for which my son apologized, but it is because of pure frustration.
