Telkom - you can only get an updated statement once a month
I've had a contract with this company for years, and despite having issues which I have time and again complained about, I learnt to live with them. My final straw came this past weekend. My agreement with the company states is that there would be a debit order every last day of the month. This month, they attempted to debit my account the day before, but my transfer into this account hadn't cleared so Naturally, I got cut off some time down the month. I however, wasn't aware that the debit hadn't gone through till after I was cut.
On Sunday, I decided to go to a branch to sort this out. I requested for an updated statement, so I can make payment and it was printed for me. This statement made no reference to any failed debit order which was rather confusing to me. It clearly showed that my next debit would be made on 31 July. The agent suggested that I contact the billing department to have the issue resolved as this occurance is rather frequent withTelkom, which I agreed to do. On my way home, I called the billing department. The explanation that was given by Siphindile was rather shocking. I asked for an updated statement showing that payment was unsuccessful at month end, so i can make payment. I was told should use the sms's sent to me as proof that payment didn't go through. I was told that the statement received from the Telkom Agent was outdated, as telkom only generates invoices and statements once a month, on the 2nd. So I will have to wait till the 2nd of next month to get that. Where have you ever heard such? A big company as Telkom?
I requested my call to be escalated to a senior, and was informed no seniors work on the weekend. Siphindile said she would request for a Call Back for me. It's been over 48 hours, still no call back.
And while my call with Siphindile didn't end so well., I guess I will remain without Service till 2 August when the new batch of invoices and statements have been generated
