Telkom x Mondo Mobile are ********

Hi. I am hoping you would be able to help me with a dispute I have with Telkom which has effected my credit score, rating and everything in between .

On the 15 December 2016, I took out a Telkom Smart Broad Band Wireless 10GB contract with third party Mondo which I successfully paid out for 24 months (ended 14 December 2018). After the agreed period, I recall receiving a phone call from Mondo asking whether or not I would want to renew the agreement which I declined as I saw no value in it anymore. In my mind the contract had thus been completed and therefore canceled as I had only authorised for it during 2016 - 2018, but alas.

Yesterday I received my credit score from an agent who is helping me with an application and it revealed that I was rated below average and unfavorable because of non-payment with Telkom for the year of 2019. I then followed up with Telkom and spoke to an agent named Sindile Botwana on 08 January (16:08 - 16:59) and she advised that the contract had been "cleared" due to non-payment which I then disputed because I had not authorised for any additional services from Telkom. She then got back to me with counsel from her management stating that I should have called in with Telkom 30 days prior the contract ended to cancel.

Now my dispute is that, no one explained this to me when I took out the contract. Also why did they wait until I got into arrears for an entire year for services which I had not made use of nor did I sign-off? Furthermore, if the service had been running on the apparent month-to-month, why had no one from Telkom contacted me to inform me that this was the case and that I had an outstanding balance?

I queried this with them yesterday but they insisted that the onus was on me and that they would not be able to lodge a case. The only way to solve this they alleged was to pay of the outstanding R1500 which I refuse to as I had not consented to their services for an additional year and a matter of principle.

Please could I kindly ask you to assist me on how best to solve this and how most importantly I can have my credit score restored to its former glory.
