Telkom won't help me insure my phone!!!!

I took a cellphone contract with Telkom in the middle of April 2019,when i called the the call centre to enquire about insurance i was a given a number to call.I called that number and the number was for claims and they do not insure.I was then told to go the nearest Telkom shop to enquire about insurance,which i did at Matlosana mall in Klerksdorp.The consultant at the Telkom shop told they can't help me because 7 have passed and i can't insure my phone.It doesn't make sense to me how Tellkom cannot help me insure my phone!
