TELKOM WIRELESS TELEPHONE FRUSTRATION

About 8 months ago my 89 year old mother was told that her land line would be changed to a wireless telephone due to continual cable theft. The Huawei phone was duly dropped off with no instructions or guidance on getting started. I complained to TELKOM who said that there could be a problem with the sim card. Problem was that no one had bothered to inform us that the sim card needed to be activated. The phone still did not work properly so after a couple of weeks a cousin took the phone to the Rosebank TELKOM store where it was found that it was faulty. The new phone worked for half a day and then started my calls to TELKOM to lodge complaints. Over a five month period I received 7 different reference numbers as each time I followed up on my complaint I was told that the problem was sorted which of course was nonsense. In desperation two weeks ago I went to the Rosebank store to enquire whether the land line could be reinstated. I was told to get a letter from my mother giving me authority to deal with the matter together with our respective IDs. On returning with the necessary documents I was told that once converted the land line is "lost". The one hand doesn't know what the other hand is doing!!! Last week I took the second phone back to Rosebank and when the staff checked it was faulty. I now get phone three and am told that it is a regular / normal occurence that phones are returned. One wonders which official(s) received the envelope. Phone three worked for a day and again stops working. I went back today to the Rosebank shop only to be told that phone three is also faulty!! I was also advised that it is a waste of time to try another phone as it would be better for my now 90 year old mother to use a cell phone. Oh and by the way one does not pay land line charges for calls on wireless phones but actually mobile phone rates which I doubt that those unfortunate people who have working wireless phones are aware of.
