Telkom will NOT cancel my service, even when their own staff cancel it.

Telkom is as national disgrace. I have attempted since the the beginning of this year to cancel my account by making numerous phone calls to their 10210 number without success. After many calls I was eventually helped by an individual who indicated I must cancel on line. The cancel area is hidden away on the Telkom site, requiring one to move with an arrow to the left in a selection option. After eventually finding it, I cancelled my account on 1 June. Of course, nothing happened. Eventually, I went into the Telkom store below Herbert Evans in Rosebank, and the Telkom employee took me through the whole process of cancelling my account once again. Needless to say, all that happened was I stopped receiving a Telkom account, until... on 8 November I received a letter of demand indicating that despite numerous demands for payment, I had not paid an outstanding amount of over R2,000.00. This is a blatant lie. Telkom have not demanded payment from me. They have stopped sending me accounts. My self service cancel request number from 1 June is ********** 853 : ********** ; My self service cancel request number from 18 August is ********** 853 : ********** ; The last invoice I have received from Telkom is on 7 June. I believe that if you cancel your service with Telkom, all that happens is your billing is cancelled, but the service stays active. I am appalled by the amount of my time Telkom has wasted. I will be taking this up with the media.
