Telkom Wi-Fi

If I could give less than a one star rating, I WOULD!!

I feel absolutely frustrated, disgusted and cheated about the utter incompetence and bad service received from TELKOM’s personnel with regard to my Wi-Fi contract, which I’ve been struggling to resolve for more than 5 months. I am so sick and tired of visiting their offices, phoning them, sending emails and receive false promises, which gets me absolutely nowhere and everybody’s story is different. I JUST WANT MY CONTRACT TO BE CANCELLED WITHOUT ANY FURTHER BS !!!!!!

In short, I lost my job due to the Covid situation, which needs no explanation, but I needed the Wi-Fi. I’ve been with Telkom for a long time and was happy before, but now ……

As I rely on my pension, which gets paid into my account on the last day of the month and then reflect on the first day of the next month, Telkom deducted their debit order too early, resulting on the debit order sometimes being rejected. I requested to pay the amount monthly via EFT, which according to them cannot be done, which I find totally unacceptable and utter *******, as they still get paid. Since 2 June 2022, I paid my instalment via EFT before due date. On 25 August my service was suspended and although I tried numerous times to resolve it telephonically, emailed proof of payment etc., I could not do so as I was requested to go onto their VERY USER UNFRIENDLY APP to pay to resolve the issue, whereafter it would take 24 hours to be reconnected. I went to their offices in Shelly Centre the very same day for assistance and was advised by a lady that they could not assist me with the APP, AS NONE OF THEM KNOW THEMSELVES HOW IT WORKS!!! REALLY!!! I was told to go to Pick-n-Pay to pay an amount of R202.70, which according to their records, was due in respect of the debit order that was rejected, whereafter it would take 48 working HOURS, previously it was 24 HOURS. I immediately paid via EFT and the next day paid the full amount in respect of the September 2022 instalment.

The next day I went back to the Shelly Centre office to cancel my contract with Telkom. I was told that the service will first have to be reinstated, WHICH COULD TAKE UP TO 7 WORKING DAYS (JUST GETTING LONGER AND LONGER EVERY TIME) before he can assist to cancel it, whereafter I would have to come back to the office again to cancel – time and money to get there again!! On 9 September I called again, as the service was still off. The lady told me that she just reinstated my service and I requested her to cancel my contract with Telkom, whereafter she ended the call. The line was reinstated for one day and then cut again and to date I have still not received any service. Although I’ve paid every month since June, now, according to my September 2022 statement I owe them R1 154.40, whilst my instalment of R757.57 for September 2022 was already paid on 26 August 2022.

I went to my own bank 3 times since February this year with the same problem and they cannot even trace a debit order from Telkom to cancel it – yet Telkom present it every month and add additional costs every month to rob us. According to my records I am not in arrears and am not prepared to explain my situation every time and get nowhere. I am not prepared to pay TELKOM anything further. JUST CANCEL THE CONTRACT – IT IS FULLY PAID UNTIL END OF SEPTEMBER 2022. I NEVER WANT TO WORK WITH TELKOM AGAIN AND WOULD MOST DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE.
