TELKOM "WE ARE ALWAYS RIGHT" and "THE DEBT COLLECTING SHARKS ARE ALWAYS RIGHT"

Around the last week of February 2017, I notified my landlord that I would be vacating the premises on 27 March 2017. I called Telkom to cancel my landline and ADSL service and was instructed to fill in a form and send it to them. I did this from an Internet cafe as Telkom (predictably) was down. I wrote on the form that the final bill should be emailed to me. I received nothing. I then received an SMS from a debt collecting company demanding R4000+ . My bill would have been around R770 as I did not use the landline for telephone calls. A couple of months ago I happened to pull my credit record and noted that Telkom had listed me for an amount of approximately R2800. I called the debt collecting agency who demanded via SMS an amount exceeding R4000. On Tuesday I received yet another SMS from these sharks informing me that they are going to issue summons. I cancelled my lease, signed another lease, signed a contract with another ADSL provider and in January this year cancelled my Cell C contract in writing. I have never missed a car payment or insurance payment, or a Cellphone payment so why, pray tell, would I not have cancelled my Telkom account? I am not a child! Incidentally the mother of a school friend of mine, now aged 84, is experiencing the same thing with Telkom, (she lives in the town where I used to live). With so many people battling Telkom, who is the common denominator in this? TEKLOM and its non existent "Customer Service" and its "WE ARE ALWAYS RIGHT" Policy. Telkom, I will pay you an amount of R1500 (which I DO NOT OWE) in full and final settlement once you have acknowledged in writing to me, that the adverse listing on my credit profile across all four credit bureaux is deleted within 3 days of receiving payment. I will also arrange to have my father's line disconnected and encourage everyone else in my community to do the same! Telkom and the sharks it employs at its agent should be prosecuted.

Reviewer Update
Since 27 April you have never rep**** to me or tried to contact me. I have numerous debt collectors trying to collect monies from me. As a "giant" in SA your legal department should know that this is *******. I will now tender the amount on my credit profile once you provide me with a direct telephone number for your legal department and a direct email address to which I can submit proof of payment. The listing is to be removed from my credit profile within 3 working days of receiving payment. The listing is to be removed from ALL FOUR credit bureaux. Kindly provide the information requested to me immediately.
