Telkom USELESS, as usual! Fellow South Africans, NEVER trust Telkom EVER

Made the HUGE mistake (for the 2nd time!) of signing up for Telkom ADSL (account i.n.o. Faye Curtis # ********** 30001). Will NEVER trust them again! The data line to our house was faulty for months on end & kept dropping the data signal every 5 mins, then automatically trying to reconnect. We logged calls (with that wonderful Call Centre...NOT!) & Technicians finally came (NEVER when they were supposed to). After each separate fault logged & new Technician visit, we were assured all's fixed & working...NOT! Eventually in utter frustration we cancelled the ADSL on 14 AUGUST (after paying for months on end with no proper data usage!), via the official Telkom form & sole e-mail address for cancellations. We got a system generated e-mail auto-reply acknowledgement from Telkom on 14 AUGUST. By the middle of Sept there was still no cancellation done, and we continued to get billed, without having any working ADSL, so we called the brilliant Call Cntr again (NOT!), who promptly told us they can't help re cancellations, nor check on cancellations & there's no-one we can call to check on cancellations; "you just have to wait" was the sterling Call Cntr Agent's reply!

By mid Oct (still being billed, & still no data available for any use at all!), we logged a stop payment with our Bank & returned the Oct Telkom Debit Order. The Bank told us the stop payment would be valid for 3 months, but we had to get Telkom to cancel the debit order. On 8 November I again forwarded the exact same cancellation e-mail 1st sent on 14 AUGUST, along with the proper form & I.D. as originally sent. Another system generated e-mail auto-reply arrived...

In the meantime, both the NOVEMBER, and now DECEMBER Telkom debit orders have snuck through my bank account, but were not picked up by the Bank's Stop Payment system as now Telkom's trick is to vary the amounts by a few Rands so that the Bank's systems can't automatically catch them & return as instructed!

So now AFTER FOUR MONTHS of waiting, PAYING HARD EARNED RANDS, & trying to follow up myself on pathetic Telkom operations, with NO RESPONSE FROM ANY HUMAN AT TELKOM, the Bank have advised they can only now manually return the Dec amount, but I'll have to log a call with Telkom (a.k.a. HELLKOM) to try & get my Nov money back!

Fellow South African's NEVER, EVER, trust Telkom again, and tell EVERYONE you know to NEVER use them again.

As an aside, I also made a similar mistake in signing up for Telkom Mobile on a 24 month cell phone contract in Nov last year...OH MY HAT! ... similar experience & "service" as listed above...WHAT A MISTAKE!...and the icing on the cake is that their cell signal for both voice & data completely disappears in patches all across CENTRAL DURBAN, plus once you go further south than about Amanzimtoti, there's NO SIGNAL AT ALL, EVER! No calls in or out, & no data at all.

The sooner Telkom goes under the better...

Over a MONTH later & still no results from Telkom. Even wrote a mail to their Telkom COO Brian Armstrong ********** so let's see now...
