We live in Hibberdene on the KZN South Coast and for the past 6 months have been having serious issues with our ADSL connection. The maximum connection we can get in this area is 4Mbps but, in truth, we are lucky if we get 2Mbps if we get a connection at all! Latency and jitter figures are also diabolical especially when it comes to trying to stream from Netflix etc. After many approaches to Telkom through my very helpful ISP they eventually sent out technicians a number of times to check our local wiring (from the nearest box on the property to the house). These technicians reported back at least 6 times to Telkom that the problem was not in the wiring but in the underground cable which is covered by a different department. Eventually Telkom acknowledged this and their response was "we will not fix underground cables due to cable theft - offer the client an alternative". There is NO ALTENATIVE in this area so surely they (Telkom) can be prevailed upon to fix a service for which I am currently paying R1300 a month and not receiving??
