Telkom Unauthorised Deductions After Cancellation
HelloPeter Complaint – Telkom Unauthorised Deductions After Cancellation Subject: Continued Deductions and Undisclosed Cancellation Charges After Confirmed Month-to-Month Fibre Cancellation I am extremely disappointed with the way Telkom has handled the cancellation of my month-to-month fibre service and the continued deductions from my bank account despite the service being cancelled in accordance with Telkom's own instructions. The fibre service was installed and activated on 19 June 2025 on a month-to-month agreement. When I was informed in August 2025 that I would need to vacate the property, I contacted Telkom and was advised that cancellation could be done telephonically one week before the final day of service. Over the following months, I made several telephone calls and WhatsApp enquiries to ensure that the cancellation process was correctly followed. I was eventually advised that the service would be cancelled effective 31 January 2026 and that the final payment would be deducted on 31 January 2026. The service was disconnected accordingly. My payment history is as follows: 31 July 2025 30 August 2025 30 September 2025 31 October 2025 29 November 2025 31 December 2025 31 January 2026 29 February 2026 The service was used from 19 June 2025 until 30 January 2026, yet Telkom deducted an additional payment after the confirmed cancellation date. To make matters worse, Telkom has also charged a termination fee of R812.10, despite: The service being sold and confirmed as a month-to-month contract. No fixed-term agreement being signed by me. No written or verbal notification of a termination fee ever being provided. The cancellation being processed according to Telkom's instructions. My willingness to transfer the service to my new address, which was not possible because Telkom does not provide fibre coverage in that area. I have repeatedly attempted to resolve this matter directly with Telkom, yet the deductions continue. In addition to the unauthorised charges, I am also incurring monthly bank charges as a result of these deductions from my account. I do not dispute the standard service fee of R106.00 if legitimately due. However, I strongly dispute: The additional payment deducted after the confirmed cancellation date. The undisclosed termination fee of R812.10. The continued deductions and the resulting bank charges I am forced to incur. I am requesting that Telkom:
Reverse the R812.10 termination fee if Telkom cannot provide proof that it was disclosed and agreed to. Reimburse the bank charges I have incurred due to these continued deductions. Confirm in writing that my account has been fully cancelled and that no further deductions will take place. As a customer who followed the cancellation process exactly as instructed, I find it unacceptable that I am still being billed and forced to spend time and money resolving a matter that should have been concluded when the service was cancelled. I trust that Telkom will urgently investigate and resolve this matter. Regards, Leagh Slabbert Telkom REF No: *** Contact Number: *** Email Address: ***
