Telkom unauthorised debit
I have had Telkom debits off my account and have never signed up for any contract with Telkom. This started in September 2017 and I immediately contacted Telkom call center. It was discovered that someone opened a mobile contract with Telkom using my details (Identity Theft). The call center agent advised that they would stop the account. Two weeks later another two debits went off my account (one day apart from each other). I went into my nearest Telkom Branch and was advised that nothing had been stopped on the account. The staff member advised that I also needed to produce an Affidavit, ID and proof of residence. This I did on the same day and took back into the branch. The staff member scanned the docs in and gave me a ***** case number and advised that within 72 hours the issue would be resolved. I never heard anything again. Then last week I received another debit (this was 7 months after the first). I went back into the branch and was told that the case was closed. How can a case be closed but I'm still being debited. Today again another debit went off for R5093.42. I phoned the call center again and was told that the case is still closed and I need to produce the documents again - this after the branch took them in last week. Now I'm told I need to log onto the Telkom site to cancel the contract - how can I log onto the site with no Telkom account number. I'm being sent from pillar to post and my credit record is now been tarnished. Nobody at Telkom is taking account for this and doing anything about it. HOW DO YOU VERIFY YOUR NEW ACCOUNTS WHEN ********** ARE USING ****** IDENTITIES?????
