Telkom Tygervalley bottom of the barrel service

On 10 September 2018 I requested a router from Telkom after having fibre installed at my home. After waiting to hear from Telkom I eventually went to another service provider and got connected within less than 24 hours.

This evening at 17h55 I entered the walk-in store in Tygervalley. I was asked about the nature of my business and I was later given a number (62) and then informed to wait for the supervisor to see me. I was essentially there to return the wifi router which came by courier on Friday last week and also to follow up on a wifi service I had cancelled online on 12 September 2018. He was one of two people behind the counter assisting customers. Even when the other counter had no one at the counter I had to wait to the supervisor. During this time the staff constantly made him aware that I was still waiting on him. Eventually at 19h07 he came towards me and wanted to know the reason I was there. I explained again that I was there to return the router (the box was still sealed ) and the page which came with the delivery was with it. He told me that he could not accept it and that the courier had to fetch it from me. At this time I started video recording the conversation. Then I made it clear that I was not taking the box with me as I was livid from waiting so long only to be told that he could not assist me. When he became aware that I was recording him he tried to grab my mobile and demanded that I delete the video. He then tried to bar me from leaving by taking the key from the door. When I suggested he was keeping me there against my will, he walked towards me to hand me the box. I moved towards the door and he ran behind me and manhandled me while grabbing my arm. I demanded that he leave me. At this time the patrons entering the building were staring at him. He eventually let go of my arm and walked back into the store with the box under his arm. I have subsequently been to the police station and I have video footage of the entire incident. I will seek legal advice in the morning as I believe that what he did was tantamount to assault. This is beyond shoddy service. No simple apology can be acceptable for such pathetic service and treatment.

Isn't it interesting that Telkom has not responded. Perhaps releasing the video of the incident online will get your attention.
