Telkom to end landline service after 31 March 2019??

I have been receiving calls from sales agents, supposedly from Telkom, pressuring me to switch to a wireless unit. The cost of said unit is apparently R1200, and is free if taken now. Apparently after 31 March 2019, my fixed line will be cut off if I don't. Now this is quite serious and the previous salespeople made no mention of this. I did an internet search and found that consumers had R1200 tacked into their bills once accepted. Surely, if the current fixed Telkom lines are ceasing to exist, there should be notices appearing regularly in the media and I haven't seen a single one. I also checked online if any mention was made of this and couldn't come across anything. Can anyone shed some light here please?
