Telkom - ******* masquerading as a legit business

I logged a problem with our LTE internet with Telkom at the end of Dec 2016, as the internet was very slow. Less than 1mbps, which is not LTE speed. Eventually on 20 April 2017 the technical department called me saying they have investigated and there is something wrong with the tower. Another tower will be built but it will take a couple of months to be completed. I have the option to wait for the tower to be built or cancel my contract. I said that i would like to cancel my contract please.

On Monday 24th of April I phoned Telkom Mobile cutomer service to confirm that my contract was cancelled. The customer service agent then confirmed that my contract has been cancelled and that I owe no outstanding fees and that I would not be charged an early cancellation fee.

HOWEVER, the accounts department keeps on billing me and has confirmed that they will keep on billing me as I am still in my contract. I explained that I already have a new internet provider and that I was told that I could cancel my contract. I was then informed that does not count and that according to them I have to pay. I have asked them to listen to the phone calls but its been almost a month and still NOTHING.

So, now I am paying for a service I cannot use / they cannot deliver until they have eventually decided to investigate my case and listen to the calls. I may then log a case to claim my money back. Imagine at this rate how long it will take. In the meantime I am coughing up R700 a month for their total incompetancy.

I know the contract is still active! I am paying for it every month, even though the technical person and the customer relations person BOTH told me I can cancel it / it has been cancelled.
