TELKOM their lack of service is trying to cancel it
Impossible to cancel my line. Telkom call centre 10210 - The menu options have no natural route to line cancellation. I eventually follow what seems intuitive (a number other than what im calling from (2)) then option 3 (services) - get told no you must be put through to accounts. Now at the number stage i put in a LAND line number but the operator puts me through to CELLPHONE accounts who then refuse to help, and are magically unable to put me through to the correct number for land line related cancellations. Say i must call 10210 again. So i do. I follow the prompts this time trying something else. The operator i reach tells me that I am at the wrong department so I must try calling 10210 and then choosing options 2, then 5. So off I go, 10210... my number... option 2... there is no option 5 after that, Only options 1-4... So I pick 4 because that is the number for "all other queries". So the operator says we don't cancel the accounts. You must do it on our website. Now the reason I am phoning is that the website route didn't work for me. So anyway off we go to the site. She reads out for me what to put in... Low and behold, it doesn't work. Fill in the details to link the account. Can not link... Try again... can not link... try again, magically links. Then the cancellation option is hidden, you have to scroll through a menu of icons with small left to right arrows on the side... Considering telkoms average service standards they should put a massive cancellation button in the middle of the screen and hide the purchase additional services button somewhere under your close tab button... Anyway get there. The damn thing wants me to upload my ID document to cancel a line. WHY??? I am cancelling a line, I am asking to not spend money. Why do they need my ID to prove my request to STOP billing me. I get needing proof of who I am before I can order a debit order on my bank account. But to withdraw the billing voluntarily. That makes no sense.
I cancelled my AXXESS DSL data the other day (canceling both services because I am emigrating, if you want to know why i am emigrating look no further than the quality of services from RSA's SOE's). It was so easy. Logon, click on the icon for my accounts management. Click the cancel service button. Bam, gone, done. No ID. Why no ID. Because they know they done have the right to that information.
