Telkom, the worst customer service by far in a place where horrible service is a competition..
I have had my Telkom account for a few years and have been paying via debit order. I changed my bank and had to pay via eft since November 2020. I made my December 2020 and January 2020 payments to the Telkom account which is resident on my Tyme bank app. I unfortunately used my cell number as the reference and not the number they provude on the statement as I wasn't aware of that having paid via debit order all the time. Telkom kept sending messages informing me of non payment and I tried calling them to inform them if the payments made to no avail. I just couldn't get a hold of the company even after having waited on hold for sometimes up to 25 minutes and other times up to an hour or two. I finally got hold of a consultant as I was on the cars Bluetooth and driving for about 1 hour and twenty minutes. I was told to send the payment confirmations and given email addresses to send this to which I did through through same Tyme Bank app. A week later my phone service consisting of my own cellphone account, my data account and a second cell account. Now I Cann contact Telkom because my phone doesn't work. I call from another number amd hang on for am hour and a half and no answer. I put the phone down. Then I try several times again amd finally get through to a consultant who gives me the same run around. Please send proof of payment to these email addresses which now includes their account payment department or accounts department also. I do this and no response from the second consultant just like with the first. I then send emails to this consultant asking if they had received the proof of payment as the bank confirms sending it but again no response from the consultant. My phone was now off for three weeks and as I use it for business I had to make another plan to stay on contact with customers. I got through after several failed attempts to a consultant again and had to explain the entire ordeal only to be told, "I cannot help you please go to a Telkom branch". I did this and was told to pay the full outstanding amount which now stood at R3451.00 and this after not having a phone service for about a month. I offered to pay the amount and was told I cannot pay Telkom directly at a Telkom store as they only accept payment for new devices or something like that. I had to pay at Game. I paid the outstanding amount and went back to the same branch with proof of payment so my service could be reinstated but was told they cannot do it until the full amount reflects which will take three to four working days. Fuming I left the store and called the accounts department and this te got through in about 15 minutes. No direct lines to speak to specific people so again, I have to relay the entire ordeal and was again told to wait as the service will be automatically reinstated after the amount paid reflected on my account. This did happen and then I sought to trace my two payments which were never credited to my account. Two months later and only one payment had been credited and I have had the very same treatment and the very same disrespect or absolutely unprofessional service of Telkom not responding or acknowledging even an email or a telephone call saying yea or nay regarding the December 2020 payment which was still not credited toy account. I am again receiving sms messages and email saying my account will be disconnected but nothing regarding the proof of payments I sent repeatedly and to the accounts department and now 3 different consultants who all have the same horrible habit of not responding to a customer emailing them directly asking for acknowledgment of payment. This after the same company had registered a ********** device and contract on my account during the latter part of 2019 into 2020 with the start of the lock down. I queried the overbilling on my account and was told I need to manage my spend. I did that for a few months and yet my bill never dropped. It only increased and fluctuated in amounts that were completely ridiculous asy spend was always constant. I combine yet again and asked for a full statement and review of the account where I discovered an unknown number on my account. I asked the consultant about this number and was told it's my number and after a long dispute which led nowhere I decided to investigate this myself. I called the number in question and it went unanswered for a few times and about 3 days later was finally picked up by a male in Soweto who gave me a an unfami**** name. I called Telkom again and after a few failed attempts got hold of them and I was referred to their ***** department. This investigator commanded me to go write an affidavit stating that I suspect ***** on my account which I refused to do telling him that this was clearly a fault on their side that I had to first investigate amd confirm amd now I have to take time out my busy schedule to do their administration work. I was nonchalantly told that of I refuse they will not help me. This was their ******* and ******** staff members opening contracts and handing out cell phones on accounts of unsuspecting customers and then refusing to do the work to investigate the matters. I finally had to give in and go write the affidavit and after submission of all the forms demanded from me. I was told this will take a month or two to "investigate". Meanwhile I still being made to pay for the ********** account that is not being suspended after I had confirmed that it is indeed **********. Finally the matter was dealt and I was paid a fraction of the money I had been overcharged with. When I queried this, I was told that's that's amount and that's it. Telkom is notorious for extremely bad customer service and in my opinion one of the worst companies I habe ever had to deal.with. please don't ever get a contract with them it would be your biggest mistake ever
