Telkom, the inept company.

I know the title says Telkom, but this is actually a review on Openserve and their complete disregard for customer satisfaction.

Let me paint you a picture, after months of petitioning you finally get wind that fiber is coming to your area at last. Bad luck strikes when you hear its Openserve instead of the many other companies that are doing fiber rollout but you are not picky so you eagerly await your turn as they start laying out the foundations. Months of cable laying go by and nothing comes near your street, after investigating the matter you find out they did your ENTIRE area except for your street and three others.

Six months down the line and many infuriating phone calls later you hear the words "I don't know" so many times you start think its their companies slogan and are told in not so subtle ways to stop pestering them and you will get the fiber when we are good and ready. Below is a link to a picture outlining the situation above so you can visualize the ridiculousness of it all.

The area in question is outlined in green(Westridge Somerset West), the streets left out are highlighted in green. Dark purple shading means Fiber is available, light purple means "planned" release with a no ETA attached to it. You can seethe other areas that were activated long after construction on our area stopped.

I can only hope that someone from Telkom reads enough of these reviews and finally begins to work on their customer interaction because finding a reason for their decision to stop where they did has been an impossible journey that has made me realize once and for all that Telkom really does not give one single damn.

Our only options now are to go wireless as the ADSL here is one swift wind away from being useless or hope for some other company to pick up where Telkom left off. Those of you who read this review, where you have the option, do yourself a favor and go the option that doesn't involve Telkom.
