TELKOM TELKOM TELKOM!!!!!

My wife entered into a new contract with Telkom yesterday, 13/02/2019, for an IPad 6th Gen with 5Gig data. She signed the docs and got the Tablet at around 19:00 last night. When she got home the IPad did not power on, she left it on charge through the night, but to no avail. When she went to Telkom this morning, 14/02/2019, to get the device replaced she was told that they do not replace Apple products, it needs to be sent in for repairs which can take 21 business days. The fact that she signed a document saying she's got 7 days to report any defects and receive a replacement seems to mean nothing.

My complaint being the following: * The sales lady did not open the Tablet and switch it on to see if it is in working order (Which they are supposed to) * The device failed to power on and was returned to them in less than 24 hours, yet they will not replace it. * She will be liable to uphold her end of the contract, by paying for something that was received broken. * When she asked to then rather cancel the contract (it's only been 18 hours give or take), they explained that penalty charges of about R1000 will be payable.

I might not understand their agreement with Apple, but this is absolutely unacceptable from both companies. She has a contract with Telkom, whereby she commits in paying a monthly premium and they commit to provide a service. Regardless of the Company supplying the device (in this case, Apple), Telkom has an obligation to give their customers what they are paying for, in this case AN IPAD THAT WORKS!

It is not a difficult principle!
