TELKOM taking my money for their own fault
I was contacted by TELKOM on 21 July from ***, and they told me that my contact for *** SmartBroadband Wireless Unlimited is expiring and that I could migrate immediately to FIBRE. I asked the person again to make sure that I can migrate and that my contract was coming to and end, and they confirmed as such. I believe the calls are recorded. Once the fibre was installed, I realised the SmartBroadband was still active and I phoned for a whole week to enquire, with no success. I phoned 10210, but kept being transferred to the wrong department. On 2 Aug, I phoned 5 times, just to find that I have one more year left on the SmartBroadband contract and must cancel it, with a cost of R403 and I must also pay for a full month of August, because I could only reach someone to assist me on 2 August. So we are cancelling it on 2 Aug, yet I must pay for the whole of Aug? This is completely unacceptable. I only agreed to a new fibre contact due to the sales person telling me that on the system, my contract is expiring. I did not double check this on my contract, because a Telkom employee is giving me the information directly.
Yet, I am responsible for payment now? No one could assist me in July when I was calling. I was cut off a few times and transferred to the wrong department the other times.
How it is fair that I am responsible for payment, due to a fault of a Telkom employee.
