Telkom - taking from the little man
I'm currently writing this using my data despite paying a monthly fee for my 10mb telkom line. I assume much like other telkom users have had to do at some point during this week... Unfortunately my issue with Telkom goes much further than the constant inconvenience of line drops and speeds at less than 1/4 of what they are meant to be. A few months ago my girlfriend moved out of her old apartment into another one in the same complex.
1. Telkom charged her for the line moval service despite this being STATED as free in the contract 2. They continued to charge her on both lines despite one being moved (a double bill)
This was the first mistake, acceptable and understandable if corrected.. My girlfriend, being a trainee, did not pay the unfair amount but paid what was owed to Telkom, what follows is what angers me:
1. Telkom decided to cut the internet line without making any contact. 2.They handed my girlfriend over for debt collection, without inquiring or even looking into why the bill may not have been paid. (This affects her credit rating as well as her ability to change service providers at the time - remember our line has been cut) 3. They continued to charge us for the cut line 4. They were impossible to reach and there are no individuals at telkom branches who deal with accounts so there is no way to resolve our issue other than wait without internet or wreck our cash flow by paying the unfair internet bill. We paid the bill. 5.After finally contacting them they realized they were in the wrong and gave us "credits" why would I want to stay with Telkom after the service I have recieved? What about my other cash expenses I have?
Think about it, if this was an individual acting this way no one would use his service. Or if the service was not up to standard (1/4) of the line speed, I'd pay im 1/4 of the service. He would be forced to improve his service because he won't make any money. Take Telkom now, because they are so big these individual amounts mean nothing to them and they use this to dictate the way the customer should behave and what they should recieve. I shouldn't have paid for that service in the first place, what gives you the right to hand us over for a service we didn't recieive.
I just wonder what would happen to telkom if ALL their customers paid them for the line speeds that they actually got or the services they actually recieved? Maybe we would have better internet speeds? Maybe they would treat their customers better.
I wish people could get together to ***** these companies right back and put the power back in the consumers hands. I know I'm not the only one to deal with this type of issue.
I hope our R3000 made a difference in your massive company. It made a difference to us.
