Telkom Systems are Always Down but Billing Continues
I stopped receiving my landline bill from Telkom because they were emailing it to the wrong email address. Consequently I forgot to make payments for a few months and my account got suspended. When I saw the text message for suspension, I immediately made an online payment (as I have been doing so for almost 6 years without faltering on payment), for the amount showing on my online Telkom profile. This amount was R943 and was paid on 2 July 2018. The next day I called Telkom to reconnect my line since the amount was paid in full, but I was told that there was an amount of about R100 outstanding, showing on their system and therefore my line cannot be connected. I checked back on my Telkom profile and it shows that I do not owe any amount. I have called Customer Care several times and was told a manager will call me back but till today have not heard anything. I went to a Telkom store to report it about a month ago, they said they cannot do anything since their systems are down, they will contact me. I called the call centre again about a week later, they said the systems are down, they will call me. Till today no one has called. Today I called the call centre, again I was told by Nandi Sipika that the systems are down. How on earth does Telkom function if their systems are constantly down? Yet since 2 July till now my bill keeps escalating (some of which are unknown charges) and is sitting on R932, when it is suspended. But my Telkom profile shows that I do not owe anything. This is absolutely ridiculous!!!! Can Telkom please sort this mess out and clear my bill, because on 2 July I paid the full amount required; if there is a problem with Telkom's system, then it is not my fault and I am NOT going to pay for a suspended line due to Telkom's faulty systems and pathetic services!
