Telkom Sucks

Our house was burned to the ground during the Knysna fires in June 2017. Two days after the fire I sent notification to Telkom of the cancellation using the correct form etc. Over the past 12 months have since made numerous attempts to get the service cancelled, by phone, email and the walk in Shop.

All to no avail, every month I get a bigger invoice. Finally a lady claimed she had sorted it out. The service is cancelled and the account cleared.

All great except that today I get an SMS from Telkom saying they cannot cancel the service as the customer is in collection because the account is outstanding!

I struggle to find words to describe the sheer incompetence of this organisation. It is out of control with systems that the employees do not understand and cannot manage.

Do we have to resort to the lawyers in order to get these people to do the right thing?

Despite being contacted by yet another Telkom employee and sending through all the documentation, I am still getting statements showing the service has not been cancelled. I also get SMS's saying the service will be curtailed due to non payment. No organisation can be this ***********. It has to be deliberate in order to extract more money from customers.

Update January 2019. I have been "Handed Over" to a debt collection service. Must have moved from incompetence to *******ion.
