I have/had 2 cellphone contracts and a wi-fi contract, which are all month to month.
June 2022, a subscription service was loaded onto my wi-fi contract that I did not subscribe to. (wi-fi ****al does not have internet capabilities). I tried numerous times to get through to a call centre agent unsuccessfully. Eventually, in September 2022, I got through. I requested the subscription service be cancelled immediately and I requested a refund (as I did not subscribe to the service). I was told that the monies had already been paid over to the service provider and cannot be refunded. I requested then for the details of the company that “I supposedly subscribed to” and contact details as well as clarification to what the subscription service is. The fee at the time was R80 per month. Instead of cancelling the subscription, it was raised to R192 per month, and have never received the info for the supplier to date.
It is now a year later, I have been reversing the debit orders. I spoke to someone from Telkom accounts department that called me, (do not know the name of that person) explained that I will not make any further payments until the subscriptions are cancelled, reversed and refunded. Until today, and 4 debt collectors calling me, explaining to them what the problem is, nothing has been done… But I am getting threatening messages for legal action daily.
Telkom has my contact details at my work, email address and my work address, but because they blocked my numbers, I had to get another number, they did a trace and got my prepaid number that I am currently using. No idea why they didn’t call me on my work number, the accounts person called me on it…
A few years ago, our company had the same problem with 2 contracts. Also supposedly subscribed to services (which they never did, nor did they cancel them when requested.) The contact details of the supplier was bogas, they did not respond to emails either. Our company eventually cancelled the contracts.
I am sick and tired of big companies like Telkom, doing as they please with no regard to the consequences. They do not advertise where their head office is either, so you cannot go there to sort it out.
