Telkom Takes Your Money After Contract Cancellation

I gave notice to cancel my Telkom LTE Uncapped contract on 22 Feb 2018, as it was nearing its expiry date. I received an email from the Retentions Department (Fuzo Khumalo) confirming the cancellation will take effect on 10 March 2018. When Telkom deducted a monthly installment of R625 from my account at the end of March, I queried this, and it turned out that they had cancelled someone else's contract instead of mine! This despite the request for cancellation form I submitted indicated the correct account number and cell phone number to be cancelled. It took me 2 months to to actually get my contract cancelled!!! After the cancellation was processed, Telkom proceeded to deduct a further R625 and R630.48 from my account at the end of April and May respectively. After the cancellation, I logged a case ( ********** 9) to request the monies deducted be refunded to my account. Two weeks after logging the case, I phoned to follow up, only to be told the case was never escalated to the correct department! Since then I have logged 2 more cases ( ********** 5 and ********** 9), with no success or feedback. On Monday I received an SMS stating that my case had been finalised. On further enquiry, I was told that I will be refunded R203.38 - this is not even close to the amount of R1 880.45 that was deducted off my account AFTER the original cancellation date!!! I have had the absolute worst experience with Telkom!!! I have been dealing with several Call Centre Managers, who promise to escalate the matter and get back to me, but I have NOT ONCE had feedback from anyone at Telkom!!! There is no way other than email to contact these so-called managers - when phoned in to speak to a specific manager (Lungelo Zikhali), I was told that he works in the DBN call centre, and I have reached the JHB call centre. The call centre agent told me the only way to get hold of Lungelo was to keep phoning into the call centre in the hope that I get through to the DBN branch!!! This is laughable to say the least!!! It has now been 4 MONTHS since I cancelled my contract, and 2 MONTHS of constantly pleading for assistance, following up and being given the run around. I am absolutely fed up with Telkom's pathetic service! This is UNACCEPTABLE and is tantamount to theft!!! I have tried to remain patient, but I'm at my wit's end. I have been forced to follow the HelloPeter route, and if I do not receive sufficient feedback by end of this week, I will be laying a complaint with the Consumer Complaints Commission and NCC. I sincerely hope to soon hear from someone with the authority to properly assist me in this matter.

1 MONTH later and still no feedback from anybody in this regard - why am I not surprised?! Not even after I phoned your call centre another 5 TIMES! I am absolutely disgusted with the level of service I have received from Telkom. This is totally unacceptable - it is easy for you to deduct money from my account (close to R2000!!!), but when it comes to requesting a refund, you get the run-around from anyone and everyone at Telkom. I will not be leaving the matter here. I will also be CANCELLING ALL MY TELKOM LANDLINES, including my business lines. They will not get a single cent from me ever again! Nice knowing you Telkom!
