TELKOM *****ING FROM ME
I have lived in the UK since 2016, and on reviewing my South African bank account in January 2020, I found that two cell phone debit orders were being deducted. Obviously these were ********** and I reported this to the two companies immediately. MTN took action and stopped the debit orders immediately. I was actually quite impressed with their efficiency. However, Telkom Mobile have been a completely different story. Firt of all, they asked for an affidavit. I live in the UK, so I'm not sure how they wanted me to take that to them. Anyway, I tried various avenues, and finally resorted to getting a friend to go and report the problem at a Telkom Mobile store. He also was told to get an affidavit, which he did, and got a case number from Telkom. This was towards the end of January. Since then debit orders have continued to go off my account. Fortunately the bank have reversed these each time on request, only to be debited again. In March, my friend returned to Telkom where they promised to escalate the problem. But, again debit orders have continued. So, I thought I'd try online one more time. I managed to have a live chat with someone who said the case number was for a network problem. He again said I could provide an affidavit. He said the investigation would take a few months to complete. This despite the fact that I reported this a few months back already. So I said I want to escalate it. He said he would get his manager to contact me. I provided my details and also said I would email my friends affidavit along with a copy of my ID, the letter my friend took to Telkom, and the ***** report I logged with Action ***** here in the UK so that I could register with the SAFPS. Once again, I did not even get an acknowledgement of my email, and I certainly have not received a phone call from any managers. I have no idea what other routes to take other than taking this up legally against Telkom. How can one Cell Phone company be so efficient with dealing with *****, and the other just continues to take your money.
