Telkom Spend Limit Unfairness
Judging by the reviews I have yet, longevity as a client to these big companies does not seem to make a difference to their service, regardless of this I will state how long I have been a customer.
For the past 6 years whenever I have renewed my Wi-Fi contract with Telkom they have set a spend limit of R0, which means once your data is used up, you will not continue being charged on out of bundle rates. Last year this changed and now Telkom automatically sets up a R500 spend limit for you, which means without your consent after your data has been used up Telkom will automatically start charging you out of bundle rates to the value of R500.
Multiple R500 by the amount of customer they have and you can see just how much money they make from this change of policy.
Needless to say I was a victim of such and after being caught outby it, I was told that I was informedof this during my upgrade call. Which after hearing a recording of the conversation I accepted this.
I was then told to cancel this R500 automatic spend limit I wpuld have to call customer service and rewuest this. I did this only to find out that after my request Telkom did not set the spend limit and now I have had to pay an extra R500 on my billing due to them not setting the spend limit in September to R0 as I had requested.
After many costly phone calls at an average of R200 at a time as one holds on the line for what seems to be hours, and many emails I was told I would get a response in 72 hours. Over a week later after omore emails and calls I get an email saying I must be liable for the spend limit over charge, in spite of them admitting that I did call in requesting the change limit to be changed and that they did not do it.
These companies wonder why people end ip boycotting them and having "please call me" marches etc, it is due to this constant taking advantage of and taking for granted their clients. History has proved that nothing lasts for ever, ask the Romans, Alexander The Great, Robert Mogabi. Yet here we still are watching as companies act as if they are not dependant on their clients for survival.
I am reluctant to make threats of leaving Telkom etc as this too seems not to matter to them as if we complainants are nothing, but numbers on a phone bill.
I have begged and begged and begged for assistance and still this is the service I receive. I will call again tonight to try have this resolved at no avail, I even doubt that they care enough to even read these reviews and assist dissatisfied customers.
Anyhows, in case by some miracle someone from Telkom does read this and is willing to try and assist.
