Telkom - so many apologies, so little service

We are currently with Telkom for both the adsl line and data.

Wednesday 27 October, Telkom's internet service goes offline.

This is reported on 10210 on Thursday morning, attempts to re-sync the line are not successful, as the line doesn't sync.

A technician will be dispatched. Thursday afternoon I phone again, no word or site of technician yet.

Friday morning, I phone again, technician will be attending; I was assured that it would be fixed before the end of the day. I phone again in the afternoon, no word or site of technician yet.

Saturday morning 10am, Telkom phones to see if line is working, no still u/s. So technician is on his way, it will be fixed before the end of the day. (Technician has now traveled for 2 days) At 2pm afternoon I get an sms, line was checked and found serviceable. I reply with ********** 698@F as required by sms to indicate that the fault is still not resolved.

On Sunday morning I phone again, the technician is on his way. Need I say? No word or site of technician yet.

It is now month end and I had to buy mobile data to hotspot the pc to complete to guess what? Amongst others, Pay Telkom!

Monday rolls in, I phone again, no word or site of technician yet. Oh the technician was reassigned on Sunday, no technician assigned to our fault.

Tuesday swings around, the technician pitches!! Low and behold, he tries to switch cables around, tests router. Oh yes it's the line. He will be fixing the line first thing on Wednesday morning.

Wednesday - No word or site of technician yet. I phone. Oh, the technician is on training. He will be in tomorrow morning 8am.

Am I living in some pseudo reality?

1. Why does it take Telkom 2 days to assign a technician?

2. How is a technician reassigned without solving a problem or even reassign another technician?

3. How does a technician declare ‘a line free of defects’ when it has not even been verified as serviceable?

4. How does a technician promise to fix a problem first thing the next day when he is scheduled to be on training?

5. How does Telkom’s teamleader Nishal Ramrha expect me to take him at his word when he promises that the technician will be here first thing on Thursday morning?

6. Can I really expect competent service from a technician that have failed twice to attend to a problem?

The call centre gave me reference 90662 as an escalation reference.

I have e-mailed the escalation centre. The escalation centre ref on e-mail is ********** .

My initital report was 297CTK271016 for the landline ********** 698

Technician: Kangela

Assigner: Robin de Veer

Solution:

1. Provide me with mobile data in lieu of your service that I am paying for but not receiving.

2. Dispatch a competent technician to fix the line.

Hi Brechtje
a technician was dispatched today and when we check your line it shows that it is now up and currently connected.
What you can do is to visit any Telkom shop and ask them to create a Telkom Internet sim card for you. This will allow you to use your normal Telkom Internet data via a telkom LTE/3G network at no extra cost to you whenever your line is down.
Sorry once again for service disruption.
Kind Regards
Tumelo
