Telkom SMS for handover
I received the following SMS:
From number +***0
"Telkom SA: Dear customer, Your account for customer *** has been suspended due to Collection"
On contacting Telkom via their chat app I spoke to a Londiwe (The chat was literally just ended by the agent before answering my last question before I hopped onto Hello Peter to record this post) So I spoke to Londiwe I asked what the number in the SMS was in reference to, which I never got a response to even after the chat was so abruptly closed.
What I also discovered was that my account was in arrears after a debit order was returned. I had no calls from Telkom in regard to the unpaid debit order. I asked whether telkom hands their clients over to collections for being in arrears for 13 days in a time of financial uncer*****y, to which Londiwe responded in the affirmative. So Telkom seems to be a heartless beast for doing that to its clients.
My other query was the confusion between the 2 numbers. The number in the SMS is not referred to at all on my monthly bill at all.
So after the enlightening chat with Londiwe, I still don't have an answer as to what the number in the SMS refers to since I have not found it anywhere on my statement. With all the ********** messages and warnings going around, one needs to be vigilant.
