Well, As is with any bad rewiew lets start with a good old "Telkom SUCKS!"

My family and I went into the telkom store at the pavillion 10days ago to apply for their R599 promo deal. (4mb uncapped adsl, landline+data) we were a little confused when the young lady told us that they were going to sms us the reference number. Now 10days later on the last day of the promo i decided to contact them on 10213 and find out whats going on.

I was pleasantly surprised that i didnt have to hold for an opperator, it was almost instant!

But thats when telkom's true face showed it's self...

The young man was very nice and asked us for the account holders details (I was calling on my step-mothers behalf) only to be told that no such application had been entered onto their system.

The people at pavillion had not even bothered to submit our application to have the phone and internet line installed. (I won't say typical but... Go figure. )

So here we sit in all our internetlessness glory preparing dinner... Wondering what is going to happen tomorrow when we go back there to enquire/complain... Lets hope they dont try to weasel their way out of it as i will (And only then) throw all my toys out the proverbial cot

I will update this after i go to speak to them tomorrow.

(i actually feel physically sick when i see this level of gross incompetence, is this what our great country is headed for? Is this common practice at telkom? Is it just me?

-lets find out.

Best regards,
As promised!
Today we returned to the telkom store at the Pavillion to find out what is happening.
After about an hour and a half in the queue we Eventually arrived at the front. (a Momentus achivement)
The young man d was very friendly and asked us a few simple questions, then proceeded to type away on his computer.
Not surprisingly, he told us that no such application was submitted as it did not show on the system.
Suddenly, the same young indian lady (that took our application all those aeons ago) appeared from behind the office door.
She immediately recognized us and walked over to join our little endeavor.
She looked at the man's system then left for the little office door, she returned a few minutes later with our application in hand (Apparently it had been sitting on the managers desk this entire time) they didnt want to go into further specifics about why it was not done. ( one can draw their own conclusions)
Anyhoo...
They decided they were going to do this right now for us.
Took a while but atleast it was getting done. (or atleast i hoped)
But now we have a new problem... Apparently there are no open ports at our exchange (we stay across the road from it) and it could take up to 6 months to have a port open up for us.
I couldent help but laugh historically.
So here we are... We did the application and its being processed.
Its just gonna take them 6 months to deliver.
Funny if i scroll to the bottom of this page theres an openweb advert... Hmm
Regards

Should i walk across the street and ask them to open a port for us?
