Telkom service cancelled but not the billing
On 26 January 2018 I personally called in at the Telkom office in Middelburg, Mpumulanga to cancel my telkom line service (Tel Nr ********** 009) as I was in the process of relocating from Witbank to Bela-Bela. I specifically requested on the form that the e-mail address should not be cancelled. At the end of February Telkom recovered the usual monthly bill via a debit order and I was of the opinion that everything is OK, the service cancelled and they have received all their money. However, at the end of the following 6 months Telkom kept on passing a debit-order against my account although the telephone service was cancelled. I requested my bank to reverse the debit orders but unfortunately they could reverse only the debit orders for July and August 2018. This did not stop Telkom from debiting my account every month with the basic monthly charges. On 15 August 2018 I phoned their Customer Care section to explain the problem I am having. I was given the assurance that it was an oversight on their side and that they will do the necessary adjustments to rectify the account. They also requested me to scan them a copy of the cancellation document that was handed in at the Middelburg Telkom Office. This copy was then scanned in and forwarded to them. Needless to say, nothing happened. On 30 August 2018, 17 October 2018, 12 November 2018 and 12 December 2018 I repeated the process of calling them, explaining the problem and providing the evidence of the cancellation instruction and every time I was given the assurance that the matter has now been resolved. The following case numbers were issued to me by Telkom during this period. ********** 4, ********** 4, ********** 0, ********** 3, and ********** 6. Yesterday, 1 January 2019 I received an SMS from Telkom where I am threatened to pay the amount of R4158.84 or I will be blacklisted and my account will be handed over to their attorneys for collection where as in fact they are owing me R2263.74 i.r.o. the debit orders that went through for March, April, May and June 2018. I guess I will now waite for the summons to be issued and then see them in court.
