Telkom Service - A Joke

Telkom laid cables at my property which are exposed - the cable is tacked along the wall and over my boundary wall where it runs across the road and over onto my neighbour's lawn where it then goes into a manhole. The cable is fully exposed and is in the way. Cars were running over the cable across the road. I live in an estate where there are rules regarding aesthetics and OHS guidelines etc. I was fined R1000 and the estate maintenance team covered the cable at least to avoid cars riding over the cable. The estate manager is threatening to physically cut the cable and remove it offsite. I have been calling Telkom forever to get them to come and resolve this matter. I have been given star fault numbers, been told it has been escalated, spoken to a supervisor, waited for other supervisors to contact me (to no avail), and been told that it is receiving attention. Every time I call in they either cannot find the reference number/star fault OR the fault has been closed on their side as 'RESOLVED'. A technician has even come to the house and reported back to Telkom saying he has resolved the issue - HOW, WHERE, WHEN, WHAT did he resolve as the cables are still untouched and exposed. I CANNOT call the call centre again - it is an absolute waste of time and my pressure just rises as I have to deal with clueless, pointless and absolutely frustrating conversation where I have to repeat myself continuously as the Telkom Report Logging system does not have the capacity to date, record and log faults that are still 'alive' in the system. At this point I am giving up on what seems to be a simple solution to a problem - as shortly, my line is going to be removed by the estate - which will leave me worse off than before as I will have to go through the whole painstaking process of applying for a new line as a new customer with a waiting period of 21 days or more!!! Where right now, I have a working line with ADSL capability. So it seems that in order to solve my problem of exposed cables - I have to go 10 steps back to arrive at the point where I have a working line that is properly installed. I give up!!!

Hi Launa I provided the information you requested on the 19th on the 20th as well as a follow up on the 24th . The Estate Manager came by this morning and informed me that the cable will be removed in the next day or two as it is causing an obstruction to workers and motorists. Your urgent response is requested. Regards Shireen

Hi Launa Is there a manager I can deal with at Telkom who can resolve this matter urgently? Another month has almost passed since my review. I have provided all the details as requested to the Telkom Social Media Team - which has not assisted either. Is there a 'human being' I can talk to and not a 'call centre' - I will even pick the person up and take them to my home to physically view the problem and take them back to the office afterwards. Desperately seeking assistance! Shireen
