TELKOM SENDS CREDIT BUREAUS WRONG CREDIT INFORMATION
My Telkom ADSL line was cancelled in 2017 when I moved out of my previous house, in 2019 January Telkom sent me statements showing that the account was still open and that they continued to bill me despite having vacated my previous residence. So I was charged for ADSL service even though I was not using it. My account was handed over during 2019 and as I was scared that it would affect my credit record, I paid an amount of R2582 that was outstanding in the account, the payment was in in May 2019. At the beginning of February 2020, I downloaded my credit report from Compuscan only to find out that my Telkom account still shows as Outstanding and in arrears for 7 months. I followed up with Telkom and they confirmed that the account was paid in full in May 2019. I then requested that they clear my name with Compuscan. A week after I spoke to their call centre consultants my name has not been cleared nor are there steps taken thus far to clear my name. Compuscan confirmed that there were no communications from Telkom.
Telkom's service is very pathetic and no one should use them as a service provider. Please save your credit profile and don't apply for any service with Telkom.
