Telkom selling us dreams
I app**** for the Mecer CA14D01 N3350 64G windows 10 14 inch + Mecer xpress tablet 10.1 inch 32G bundle + Hauwei E5576 ( could not remember all that but had a screenshot on my phone of the deal) at R299 on 23 July and schools were opening on 26 July at Telkom Shelly Beach. I was told my offer was approved but no stock was at hand. I was told to wait for a call when stock arrives. Today 27 September after getting advice on the Telkom Facebook messenger was told to contact the store. When i went there i was told the offer was cancelled. This broke my heart as this deal was the first one with Telkom. I was then shown laptops available which are way up my budget. As a teacher who teachers grade 12 , i was already panicking from not receiving the call as i had planned to use it to prepare for my grade 12 revision before the final exams. With covid, having to manage a lot of classes due to them being split as a result of social distancing a laptop has become a necessity. Our school computer goes on and off and is not reliable. So how are we supposed to provide quality education when a company as big as Telkom lets us down. Am out of words, the R299pm was already stretching my budget but because i wanted to give my learners quality education and a fair chance in excelling in their exams, i had taken a decision to do good and put my learners interest first. A R299pm deal might mean nothing to Telkom hence the cancellation of my order without being informed about it might come easy to them but for me this has caused pain far beyond my own but also my learners as i teach a content subject (economics) and would have made my revision more easy for them then resorting to the old cut and past method ( cutting up old exam papers, erasing and re arranging question number then pasting them on paper before making copies), yes this is how we have been doing it for years in country where were told education is important but limited resources available for teachers to achieve such. I would like to thank Telkom for reminding me again that in this country those who want to do go are never rewarded but are rather left disheartened for even trying. This was my first experience at a contract deal with Telkom and definately my last, the level of incompetency is just not exceptable. Obviously will make sure my other collegues and circle know about this as i do not want someone else to experience what i have gone through.
