Telkom ******** their consumers

Dear Hellopeter,

I took a landline with Telkom last year April 2018. I never received an bills from the network provider yet they had my email. I started receiving calls from Attorneys in regards to my account, I went to the store and enquired about the outstanding balance and eventually I paid off the account in full. Prior that I went to the store to request the cancellation figure which they provided me with and same day I went to pay at Game Store.

Two weeks ago I received a call from Nicholas Ngwenya Attorneys informing me that my account was handed over to them. I immediately went to my credit record and I saw an outstanding amount of R474. I decided to contact Telkom to enquire about my account and the consultant told me that the account was cancelled and there's no amount due. I retrieved my latest credit record at the end of the month and that R474 still appears so I had to contact Telkom again to request for the paid up letter in order to me to provider to TransUnion and log a dispute only to find that there's still an outstanding balance indeed!

I am so shocked by the kind of service they render! I asked the last consultant to advise what can I do he said I should pay the outstanding amount. I had a contract with Cell C and when I went to the store to cancel they gave me the cancellation figure and I gladly paid the outstanding amount after I had placed my notice however with Telkom it was different story and what is worse is that I could not see my account after I had cancelled nor received any bill for the outstanding amount.

The only thing I received was the call my from the Attorneys whom I informed that I would contact Telkom directly myself as I had confirmed that my account was cancelled and balance was paid in full in February 2019.

Would you kindly assist me to log a dispute against Telkom because I feel like as a consumer I was misinformed and now I am being treated unfairly.

Your assistance in this regard will be much appreciated.

Kind regards, Nkosazane
